Stepping into peaceI remember years ago my younger sister asking me, “Doreen, how come you are so calm and peaceful”? At the time I had no real understanding of what the question really meant, my response was, “that is just the way I am”. In hindsight I actually had a long journey ahead of me and indeed I am still on it.
Yet, I was not where my sister was on her journey, which was experiencing repeated hurt and pain. The origin lay in her childhood experiences, when she was most open, sensitive and exposed. I am pleased to say she now has peace of mind like never before, I love her very much and she is an inspiration to me all the time.
Naturally, we are least able to deal with difficulty during our early years however, we are all capable of creating survival strategies which enable us to cope. The price is usually high but we pay it because we believe our survival is at stake. Coping mechanisms may involve blocking off the pain in drink, drugs, gambling or food, dis-owning the trauma or denying the abuse, very often subtle continuous verbal abuse which we actually come to accept as the truth. The impact can be a life of anxiety, feeling overwhelmed, guilt, anger, depression. We can feel empty and fearful.
Hypnotherapy allows you to access your inner child and start the process of healing. Through bypassing the critical conscious mind and listening to the unconscious mind we discover the root causes and begin the healing process. The joy and peace experienced as a result of discovering the truth and letting go of hurt, resentment and anger will set you free. It is a process of enlightenment – you feel light and connected to life.

Before establishing myself as a Clinical Hypnotherapist, I worked for many years in International Business in the UK and the Far East. During that time it occurred to me that I had lost touch with who I was. One brave day I resigned from my job in Hong Kong and set off on my own life’s adventure. Attending training, conferences, and workshops around the world as part of my commitment to continuous growth and development for my life adventure. There is a great sense of joy from meeting like-minded people, sharing experiences and always gaining new insights. Cycling, toastmasters, travelling, pilates and volunteering at my local community arts center are some my joys in life. Reading has always been a great source of inspiration.
