Ute Wieczorek-King’s tweet ‘Looking for something to believe in’, coincidentally followed on from a conversation I was having with my sister only this morning about a book she gave me years ago. A little book and I mean tiny, in fact so small I can’t lay my hands on it now, it was called ‘When I love myself enough ….’ it is filled with little insights like ‘I began taking the gift of life seriously and joyfully’.
Now it took the author Kim McMillen 12 years to reach that place. Don’t panic, just because it takes time doesn’t mean it isn’t worth starting. What is self-love all about ? Self love is about self-acceptance warts and all and self-belief, we often confuse self-love with selfish, arrogance and therefore avoid it like the plague.
Safe in a slippery world
What I have learned is, when I love myself enough it is easy to be kind and gentle with others.
When I love myself enough I can take risks and trust the outcome will be just perfect in its own way.
When I love myself enough the world is an amazing place to live and my heart is full of laughter.
When I love myself enough I feel supported and nurtured by those around me. I feel free and easy, I feel connected to all around me and my inner wisdom.
Often on our journey, to ‘be’ something we become disconnected from ourselves and the love we possess within us. The fruits of our labors can feel empty and self-doubt shadows us without self-love it is very tricky to believe in oneself.
